Straight from the force's mouth

Dave Prowse - Darth Vader in Star Wars

A large part of Dave's career has been affected by the "Star Wars" phenomenon since 1976 (when they started filming "Star Wars - A New Hope" at Elstree Studios). This book describes a career spanning 50 years.

Dave Prowse first acted in a church youth club production as 'Daddy Longlegs'. It was not a career option. Fifty years later he has an acting resume that encompasses many T.V. commercials, hundreds of T.V. appearances and over twenty films including four of the most memorable films of all time; the three Star Wars movies and 'A Clockwork Orange'. For ten years he was President Reagan's Special Ambassador to The International Decade of the Disabled, ( 1983 - 1992 ). For fourteen years ( 1976 - 1990 ) he was the face of the Green Cross Code Man, the Department of Transport's Child Pedestrian Road Safety Campaign which has been estimated to have saved over a quarter of a million children's lives. All the people involved were acknowledged when Dave was awarded the M.B.E. in 2000, presented by her Majesty the Queen at Buckingham Palace in June.

"I don't know anyone who has had such a varied career, worked with royalty, Presidents, and some of the country's greatest film and television personalities. David Prowse's experiences, especially his association with the Star Wars phenomenon, will make for an awesome read. What will he do next? Run for governor of California" Arthur C Clarke.

"Any book by David Prowse should be a fantastic read. His Darth Vader has made a substantial contribution to the Star Wars franchise. And his impressive career as a strongman and a bodybuilder comes with some equally impressive stories. David has always had a wonderful and successful relationship with fans from around the world. I consider him a very good friend!" Lou Ferrigno.
