This book is written primarily for black people in Africa and the diaspora. Norman Barnett points out that black people over many centuries have buckled psychologically under the pressures of action and thought imposed on them, leading to disempowerment. To overcome this he works through the deeper psychological issues involved, as observed by modern commentators and as revealed by the structure of the Spiritual Onyame.
